Weekly Newsletter for The Freelancers: Here is the latest newsletter of the week starting on 2nd of July 2018.

Whether you are starting out as a new freelancer or a well experienced one, anxiety and depression are enemies that you have to be aware of. They can attack your creativity and therefore productivity which means your ability to make money.

Online freelancers are often creative people and anxiety and depression seem to go with the territory. When I was researching this issue I came across this statement from Sara Horowitz:

“You work with coal miners and you learn everything there is about black lung,” Horowitz told the  Village Voice last week. “You work with freelancers and you learn about depression.”

Sara Horowitz established the Freelancers Union and knows freelancers and the lives that they live extremely well. The article that quoted Sara’s statement appeared in Why freelancers are so depressed on the Fastcompany.com website. It was written by Anya Kamenetz and you can read it here

It is all very well to know that anxiety and depression go with the ability to be creative, but knowing what to do about it is what really matters. Shannon Byrne knows that this is an issue for freelancers and has written 10 ways to beat freelancer anxiety and depression for the blog Cloudpeeps.com and you can read it here.

Motivate Yourself!

“It is a well known urban myth that the French
don’t trust banks and store their money under their
mattress. It’s not that they are tight with money –
they just don’t trust anyone.”

– Janine di Giovanni

Why You Should Be Motivated To Watch Out For Financial Myths

watchout-financial-myths

Financial traps are very easy to fall into. This is especially true of freelancers because they do not have a regular income and they are often members of the millennial generation. It is important to realize that millennials are a large segment of the world’s population.

You should be motivated to find a specialized website that deals with millennial money issues so that you can keep abreast of the latest ideas. To give you a hand we have searched for you and found MillennialMoney.com. Please check.

Not that this is any substitute for personal financial advice, but you can look at the bottom of the home page and you will see that this website has a lot of credibilities. You can subscribe to their newsletter which I have done. If any particular items come to our attention, we will let you know in this newsletter.

Productivity Tip of the Week

Did You Know That Self-Talk Can Impact Your Productivity And Therefore The Amount Of Money You Earn?

self-talk-impacts-productivity

Have you ever had to deal with the voice of self-talk that says that you can’t do something because you will fail? I have, along with a lot of other freelancers. Knowing about it and how it can impact your earning capacity is an important step as a creative freelancer.

This is the story of how it impacted me. When I managed the project to write and own the copyright on the eBook How to Be Self-Employed: A Freelance Work from Home Guide. It was in 2015. Because of negative self-talk, it is has taken me until now to list it on an Amazon Authors’ Page.

This is despite getting good reviews and it is rated as five stars by reviewers. This is my Amazon Author Page here. Have you had a similar occurrence?

Knowing that negative self-talk exists is the first step in overcoming it. Amy Morin has written 5 ways to turn negative self-talk into a more productive inner dialogue. Amy’s article appears on the Inc.com website and can be read here.

We are not alone in facing this problem and you can look inside Lyn R Davis’s eBook on the subject by clicking on the icon below:

Work-Life Balance Tip of the Week

Do You Know Why Millennials Care So Much About Work-Life Balance?

millennials cares work life balance

Technology has allowed work to invade the privacy of our homes and personal lives so that there now is a blurring of the boundaries between work and home. In the past when you were not so easily reached by technology at home, most workers could go home and close the door on work.

Ryan Jenkins has looked at the work-life balance issues in the article for his blog entitled This is why millennials care so much about work-life balance which you can read here.

However, for freelancers, there is the additional complexity that home is where the work is and the family has to manage the boundaries. There is no substitute for experience in managing the boundaries when working from home.

You can feel that Brooke Lea Foster from the Parents Magazine is writing from experience in her article How to master being a work-at-home Mom which appears on the Parents.com website which you can read here.

Tricia Goyer is also writing from experience in her eBook listed below. You can have a look inside it by clicking on the link:

Financial Tip of the Week

What Do You Think Is The Most Valuable As You Age?

time-is-valuable-as-you-age.

It may seem a fairly simple argument, but when you look at it objectively it is obvious: as you age time grows increasingly important because you have less of it.

This not only refers to the impact of allowing time for your savings to the compound but being smart about organizing your time so that it allows you to use the time to your best advantage.

Grant Sabatier has written about this issue for Millennial Money. Grant’s article is Money is not the goal, time is! which you can read here. This quote is right on the money:

“Compound interest is the eighth wonder of the world. He who
understands it earns it … he who doesn’t … pays it.” – Albert Einstein

Amazon News

Amazon Prime is very popular with the millennial generation for a very good reason. It is because it saves them time.

Cynthia Meyer has written Is time the new money? Cynthia has written her article for Forbes.com and you can read it here. I believe that Cynthia is right, do you?

Essentially, Amazon Prime has read the market well because the millennials consider customer service is paramount when they are under time pressure. Pam Goodfellow, also for the Forbes.com, has written  Millennials say Amazon.com provides best customer service
