Do you know why freelancers should have a LinkedIn profile?

The opportunities for freelancers to network and find work by marketing their skills are concentrated in the right market. It does require that you are a member and have a well-presented profile.

Motivate Yourself!
“Mental toughness is spartanism with qualities of sacrifice, self-denial, dedication. It is fearlessness, and it is love.”
Vince Lombardi

Freelancers need to be motivated to learn about mental toughness

Freelances need to be motivated to learn about mental toughness

Freelancers have, to a very large extent, to rely on their own resources and train themselves to be mentally tough. This is not to say that they should not seek out and join freelancing groups whether co-working or otherwise.

It is the simple fact that to earn a steady flow of income it is necessary to keep going even when you have a rejection or a rework request that you may have received from an employer over the internet from the other side of the world.

It is quite normal with freelancing platforms that your employer for a freelancing contract can be in the United States while you are Australia. When your payment for the contract is held in escrow by the freelancing platform, you have no choice but to redo the work that you thought was correct.

That is, of course, unless it is a blatant attempt to cheat you. If this happens then you have to go to the freelancing platform’s arbitration. This requires mental toughness because you have to go on with new contracts to maintain your flow of money.

Mike Martel has written How to develop mental toughness for www.lifehack.org which you can read here. There are some people who have learned to be mentally tough and it is good to read what habits they have developed that makes them mentally strong.

Casey Imafidon has written 10 morning habits of mentally strong people for www.inc.com which you can read here. If you are interested in mental toughness, and you should be, you can read more about it by looking inside this Book:

Do you know these six skills that take a long time to master, but pay off forever?

Freelancers need to know about self-care skills that are in their long-term interest to prevent burn-out. When you start out freelancing, your first priority is to get your first gig and from there a steady flow of gigs which lead to a consistent income.

It is about this time that work-life balance will start to impact on your life and that of your family and friends. This is the time that burnout can be a trap which will impact on your productivity.

Wise freelancers will have been forewarned about this stage of their freelancing careers. The World Economic Forum (WEF) writers are aware of all these traps because they take a great interest in the Future of Work and the freelancing movement. Lauren Uppink has written an article about 6 skills that take time to master but pay off for ever. You can read Lauren’s article here.

We monitor the World Economic Forum’s articles for you and if freelancing articles are featured we will bring them to you. However, if you wish to read more about the WEF or subscribe to their newsletter you can do so here.

Burnout and its prevention is a critical issue for freelancers and their families. It goes hand in hand with work-life balance and for the millennial generation and their children, it can be a source of great stress that makes you unproductive.

Caroline Beaton has written 8 Habits that make millennials stressed and unproductive. You can read Caroline’s article in Psychologytoday.com here. If you can see yourself and your family in these articles have a look inside this eBook to further defend against burnout:

For millennials, financial tips and paid for advice to prevent mistakes can save a lot of money!

It is very easy to think that you know best about your money and don’t bother to read a financial magazine, websites or go to a financial planner or accountant to get financial advice.

However, there is a bigger mistake according to Grant Sabatier the founder of Millennial Money. The number one mistake Grant believes is Putting money first! Grant has written 7 Millennial Money Mistakes for www.millennialmoney.com which you can read here

Grant is someone who has walked the path before you and knows the mistakes to be wary of. I would agree with him that putting money first can be a work-life balance trap. It is very easy to fall into it.

His thinking is very much in line with the view expressed in Life Planning for You and Roadmap for The Rest of Your Life. If you are interested in Grant’s view on millennial money have a look inside his book below:

I also agree with Grant’s number 7 on the millennial mistakes list on the linked article - check it out!

Amazon News

It is hard to conceive a membership program for an online retail store can have a global membership of 100 million members, but that is exactly what Amazon Prime has.

You can read Dennis Green’s article Jeff Bezos finally revealed how many people pay for Amazon Prime for http://www.businessinsider.com/ which you can read here

There is a very good reason that Amazon Prime is so popular globally and it is their customer service, time and money saving deals. Each year they have Amazon Prime Day. This is normally a one day globally shopping sale exclusively for Amazon Prime members when deep discounts are offered on a broad range of items.

It is a chance for millennial families to make significant savings on purchasers. The catch is that you have to be a member of Amazon Prime. For those in Australia you can read about Amazon Prime here. Amazon Prime Day starts July 16, 12 pm in Australia at Eastern Standard Time.
