Do You Know What 9 to 5 Habits You Need To Change To Become A Freelancer?
If you have been a 9 to 5 employee without having to worry about the finances or the business development of your employer's business the change to freelancing can be a bit of a shock. You are suddenly the boss of everything! It is a good idea to take a step back and look at yourself critically before you make the final decision to leave the safe harbour of employment. There is a page on our website about this here.
Jennifer Locke's article in the Freelancer FAQs blog has taken self evaluation further by challenging you to look at your habits that you have to change before you leave employment. I would rate her skill number two as the most important! You can read Jennifer's article here.
“Leadership is not about a title or a designation. It's about impact, influence and inspiration. Impact involves getting results, influence is about spreading the passion you have for your work, and you have to inspire team-mates and customers.” — Robin S. Sharma
Have You Ever Wondered What It Takes To Be A National Employer Of The Year?
Being a good employer just does not happen by chance. It requires good leadership, thought and planning plus follow up. Freshbooks was named Canada's employer of the year because of its culture. This is a reward that any employer would be proud! Carly Moulton has written about this in the Freshbooks Blog. There is some lessons for freelancers in this who often work with remote teams of virtual assistants to accomplish their goals.
I have worked for some organizations where the culture was toxic and if you tried to improve products, policies and procedures you were ostracized. Clearly this is not the case at Freshbooks.
Carly takes us inside the mindset of Freshbooks and tells us the right way to run a business to encourage your team members to develop the right mindset to make a business successful. You can read Carly's article here.

How Do You Rate The Importance Of Your Emotional And Mental Fitness?
As a freelancer you have to have mental and emotional toughness if you are to be successful. If you don't have these attributes it is difficult to keep going when something goes wrong or you have a failure on one of your projects that you thought was perfect, but is rejected by your client. That can be tough!
I have had many of these incidents and had to back track to start again on another approach. It is not only the drain on your time and money that impacts upon you. It is also about how you feel about a failure and getting yourself ready to try again without losing enthusiasm.
Julian Hayes II has chosen this important topic for his article in the Well Being Blog of Entrepreneur. In the article he gives three important tips for freelancers that are universal to all of us. I think that tip number three is the most important. You can read his article here.
